I am a co-owner of Nelson’s salon with my brother, Leo. It was my dream to open up my own shop. Coming from Liberia in Africa to the east coast in the US, I was able to help out at a salon that was going through renovations and set ups, inspiring me to do one day do this same process process for myself. Fast forward 19 years of working for other to working for myself from home, raising kids but continuing the skilled art of braids, I was able to make my dream come true and open up Nelson’s Salon and Barbershop in June of 22. The salon is named in honor of my father and we did our grand opening in June to honor his birth month. I couldn’t have done this without my wonderful clients and family’s support.

I specialize in braids of all sorts and also kids braids. Being a mom I love working with children and always strive to make sure everyone is comfortable and get the best service in my chair.

Booking policies

  • Please text me, Korto, at 858-263-8236 with your name, desired style, preferred day of appointment and any inspo pics so I can properly quote you. Thank you, looking forward to servicing you!

  • I accept cash, zelle, apple pay and Navy federal banking.

    • Wash & PLEASE let me know if you need that service added on or else I cannot offer it.

    • Please detangle your hair before arriving. If you are coming washed, DO NOT COME WITH ANY PRODUCTS! (Oils, Leave in conditioner, mask, etc.) ZERO PRODUCTS.

    • Braiding hair included in all BRAIDED hairstyles.

    • I wont be able to service any extras that aren’t on the appointment. (Thick hair is charged due to longer time durations)

    • When booking via text/phone cal please just inform me within 24-48hrs.

    • No Call / No Show / No Explanation, will be charged $100 amount of the hairstyle that is booked so its very important you just cancel the appointment. If there is no deposit, you will be banned from booking until its paid

    • I don’t have a late fee, but if you’re more than 20 mins late, the appointment will have to be canceled/reschedule due to other client appointments.

    • Priority squeeze in are guaranteed appointments: $100 fee. (Absolutely no booking available in your desired time frame.)

    • Please book within 48hrs to be considered NOT a squeeze in.

    • Off day fee (Mondays) are $150 on top of service.

My daughter has been getting her hair braided by Korto since she was in kindergarten. She is 13 years old and we still patronize her and we are so happy she has Nelson's Braidery. Her customer service is UNMATCHED!!! Now a days it's hard to find people who really care about there customers. Her talent as a stylist is amazing as well. Her shop is well recommended.
